youtube - BROADCAST YOURSELF

Ok, ok, ok, I know. We’re not supposed to use youtube, but really, this seemingly small website has not only changed the lives of teenagers and stuntmen, but the entire broadcast industry as a whole. A new series is being developed at ABC called i-CAUGHT, a show in which broadcasters go behind the scenes of videos on youtube and discover the truth. The producers find popular videos online and delve into the madness, creativity, and story behind it. One of the shows is entitled, “Parents behaving badly.” This show has over ten youtube clips of parents treating their children wrong. The show then goes behind the video itself and tries to uncover how it all came about. This development of youtube was such a success that it took a blow to television news. Now, people are able to access short clips and stories through the Internet. Broadcasters realize that more and more people are turning to the internet as their main news source, and believe that through shows like i-CAUGHT, they will be able to bring the Internet and it’s vamp to television news. So yes, although youtube is not as creative and different as some other new innovations in technology, it has truly changed and will continue to change the broadcast industry. They are forced to change because of youtube.
